1970's bathroom F/FW to 2015 state of the art shower room!

Here we have a bathroom bought from B&Q and proffesionally installed by myself here at BPMB. The original bathroom was from the late 1970's and even had the old traditional cast iron bath still in it! Please see pictures below of how this project progressed from start to completion in 11 working days.

Day 1: Below is the original bathroom, which is in desperate need of modernisation!

It's time to start ripping out the old bathroom and here is John, getting stuck in with the hammer and bolster!

Day 2: The floor boards are completely rotten and the damage has been caused over many years by a leaking toilet. The smell from the rotten floor was unpleasant and the complete floor area will need to be gutted and replaced with new floor boards. You can see from the picture, that even the joists are starting to rott, so these too will need to be reinforced and braced with new timber.

Day 4: Here I have removed the old floor boards and completed the plumbing modifications to install the new bathroom suite.

The new floor boards are a huge improvement on the old ones and now the floor is solid!

Day 6: This bathroom has a series of vanity units to maximise storage space. You can see from the wall behind that I have plasterboarded some of the walls as they really were beyond repair for tiling on to!

Day 7: I have finally started to do the wall tiling. These tiles are made to look like travertine natural stone but are actually made from ceramic. I have laid the tiles in brick bond formation, which adds some intersting character to the tiling.

Day 9: All of the tiling is now completed. The floor has been tiled using a porcelain 600 x 300 mm floor tile. For anyone interested in having the same tiles installed in their bathroom, both the wall and floor tiles were purchased from B&Q.

Day 10: Very early on in this project I installed a 'P' shaped shower tray. In this photo, I have now installed a 'P' shaped glass shower cubicle with an opening glass door.

Day 10: The project is now complete!

This photo shows how I have installed a chrome over head rain shower with integrated thermostatic mixer bar. This is a great little shower and so much better than an electric shower box which are not as cosmetically pleasing to the eye or as economically friendly.
