Classy Bathroom Installation Project!
First day on the job and it's time to remove the old bathroom suite, carpet and tiles!
In the picture below, you can see that I have removed the bathroom suite and also taken out the large half height boxed in area which was located behind the old toilet and sink. The half height boxing was concealing the pipework for the sink and toilet but did not need to be built so high as the pipework is low to the floor.
The customer has asked me to build an inset cupboard above the end of the bath area. This will have a spot light in the top of it and glass shelves for putting shampoo, shower gel on etc. You can see how low the new boxing is compared to how high the old one used to be. By lowering the boxing, it has made a little extra room in the bathroom as the toilet and sink can now be pushed right back to the wall.
The bathroom is to have LED lighting. In the below photo, you can see that I have started to install the LED lighting before the tiling has commenced.
I have completed all the necessary preparations to the plumbing and electrics and now started to tile the walls. The wall tiles are made of ceramic and the border tile is made from glass and wooden mosaics cubes.
I have now completed the bathroom. You can see the effect created using the spot light and glass shelves to high-light the inset cupboard.
The floor tiles are made from porcelain. I have used a pebble coloured grout on the walls and floor, which helps to bring both the wall and floor tiles together as they are not of similar colour.
I have installed an electric lighting mirror which has a motion sensor for switching it off and on. The mirror switch sensor is activated by a simple wave of a hand. The basin has an underneath vanity storage compartment, which is most useful for storing soap, toilet rolls, towels etc.
The bath panel has removable magnetic panels which is also useful for utilising storage space underneath the bath. In this photo, you can also see the main control panel for the LED lighting system.
The glass shower screen opens and closes and when it is in it's closed position, this creates a water tight seal against the bath.
The bath taps are 'wall mounted' and are also thermostatic. The 'left hand' tap controls the flow of water and the 'right hand' tap controls the temperature. The tap also acts as a mixer for the shower.
The black polished porcelain floor tile compliments the black glass cubes on the mosaic border tile well.
